Cleveland Browns: 3 Predictions for Baker Mayfield in Divisional Round
By Greg Newland
1. A QBR of120
Most of the season I have said that Baker Mayfield doesn’t have to be perfect for the Browns to win. He must manage the game, not turn the ball over, and just stick to the game plan in most weeks and the Browns will have a great chance at winning.
I wish that was the case this week, but when playing a team as good as the Chiefs, Mayfield will have to be special. This doesn’t mean 400 plus yards and 6 touchdowns, but it does mean a 70 percent completion percentage, no turnovers, and maybe sacked one time.
Mayfield’s biggest improvement in the last five weeks is seeing the pocket and knowing when to run, throw the ball away, or escape to find an open receiver. He will take a sack here and there, but at the beginning of the season, he was still creating a lot of his own pressure which is now nonexistent.
Look for Mayfield to finish the game 30 of 40 for 320 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. Not to mention an additional 20 yards rushing and no sacks taken. These stats will be more than enough for Mayfield to crack a greater than 120 quarterback rating and will be enough for the Browns to move on to the next round of the playoffs.
There is no doubt this will be a huge task for the Browns, but the underdog mentality and a huge game from Mayfield could be just enough for the Browns to pull the upset.
Could it really be two teams from the AFC North fighting for a birth in the Super Bowl? We will soon find out.
