1. Larry Ogunjobi, Defensive Tackle

This is one that’s hard to admit as Larry Ogunjobi is a player who is incredibly easy to root for. A third-round pick for the Cleveland Browns in 2017, Ogunjobi was the first player from the University of Charlotte to be drafted into the NFL.

He’s been considered a trailblazer as it opened the door for Nate Davis and Alex Highsmith to be drafted in 2019 and Cameron Clark in 2020. Putting a school on the map is no easy task, but Larry O did this with his immense ceiling.

As a pro, he started to show off some of that talent as he broke out in his second season with 52 tackles and 5.5 sacks. There was a lot of excitement around him in 2019 and while his stats were similar (50 tackles and 5.5 sacks), he wasn’t the same player. Far too often, he was pushed off the line in run defense and that didn’t improve at all in 2020 when he had 46 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

It was easily his least effective campaign which isn’t what he wanted as he entered the open market this season. Of course, not all hope is lost as Ogunjobi still brings a lot to the table, which should land him a one-year prove-it deal ‚— but that will likely come from a team that will use him primarily as a pass rusher.
