The Cleveland Browns have some notable free agents that were key in their 2020 playoff run that they need to re-sign.

The Cleveland Browns season came to a disappointing end, mostly because they lost a game against the Kansas City Chiefs that they had a chance to win. A play or two more in their favor, and it’s the Browns who play the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game.

While the ending was disappointing, the season as a whole was a great success. First-year head coach Kevin Stefanski took a team full of talent and potential and finally snapped a playoff drought for a city longing for a winning franchise. Baker Mayfield proved himself to be the future at the quarterback position for Cleveland, a position that had been a revolving door for more than any fan cares to discuss. Most importantly, however, the Cleveland Browns proved they were not the same old Cleveland Browns.

Along with the rise of Baker Mayfield, came the rise of several other players on the Browns roster, who proved themselves to be good players who deserve a long-term future in Cleveland. Here are three pending Browns free agents who deserve another contract with the team in free agency.

3. Kendall Lamm, Offensive Tackle

Kendall Lamm signed a two year deal with Cleveland prior to the 2019 season, primarily to serve as a reserve offensive lineman. After appearing in four games in 2019, Lamm saw a significant increase in involvement in the Browns offense in 2020 under Kevin Stefanski and staff.

While he mainly saw snaps on special teams this season, he did come in as an extra lineman during the season. Lamm even hauled in a pass this season in Week 13, a one-yard touchdown en route to a 41-35 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Lamm’s significant impact on the Cleveland Browns this season, however, started in Week 16. Lamm started for Jedrick Wills Jr., who was out due to Covid-19 protocols and was sent back to reserve duty in Week 17. Lamm then saw significant snaps in both postseason games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kendall Lamm’s experience both in Cleveland and with the Houston Texans before is a perfect reason for Lamm to be resigned in free agency. He’s also well-liked in the locker room, and his ability to start at both offensive tackle spots in case of injury to either Jack Conklin or Jedrick Wills Jr. makes him a must-sign for the Cleveland Browns front office.
