Jabril Cox, Linebacker, LSU

Round 3, Pick 91

Another exciting prospect who has all the tools to be a great NFL linebacker is Jabril Cox, the former North Dakota State standout who only played one full season in the FBS. At North Dakota State, Cox accumulated 258 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, six interceptions, and 18 pass deflections, not to mention he was a three-time national champion.

While Alabama and LSU both wanted Cox for the 2020 season, Cox ended up going with the Tigers and was a standout on a disappointing defense. In a shortened season Cox had 58 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions of which one was a touchdown, as well as five pass deflections.

He still has room to grow as he is still getting used to the speed of the game at the next level, but at 6-3, 233-pounds, Cox fits the mold of what the Browns really need at linebacker. Cox has a great explosion in the run game and has shown he can be dominant in zone coverage in the middle of the field.

Cox won’t be ready to start in week one as he is still a raw talent, but a year of coaching and learning coupled with his work ethic and frame could end up making him a long-term answer at linebacker for the Browns.

Tommy Togiai, Defensive Tackle, Ohio State

Round 3, Pick 89

One guy who could have used more games than the Big-10 allowed is Ohio State defensive tackle, Tommy Togiai, who’s strong senior season bolstered his draft stock. In a shortened season Togiai compiled 23 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, two pass deflections, and a forced fumble.

Taogiai who was known as a stout run defender really expanded his game in 2020 and developed into an every-down defensive tackle who could rush the passer. Togiai is one who will also benefit from all the Ohio State talent on the draft board which will likely put him in the day-two category.

At 6-2, 295-pounds, the length of Togiai is a concern, but his strong hands and lower body strength do make up for it. With Larry Ogunjobi likely to return and Sheldon Richardson a possible cap casualty, Togiai could be a strong fit for the Browns.
