Adding one free agent to the Cleveland Browns roster from every AFC North team

Welcome to our first edition of “Pick-a-Player,” a concept that is relatively simple. In fact, it’s exactly what it sounds like. In this scenario, I am the Cleveland Browns and I’m able to sign one player from each of the teams in that specific division, in this case, the AFC North.

The only requirements are they must have finished the 2020-2021 NFL season on a team who is in the division we are focusing on and that player must be a free agent going into the offseason. This’s in no way trying to predict which players the Browns may pursue in free agency or via a trade. Since this mini-series is focused around the Cleveland Browns, we’ll start in the AFC North.

When picking these free agents, I’m assuming that they hit the free agency market and do not get franchise tagged or resigned by their previous team. Obviously, there is no way to know what is going to happen so if I chose Mitch Trubisky from the Bears in my NFC North column and he ends up signing with the Colts, then that section just looks silly.

Again, this is not a prediction of which players the Cleveland Browns may go after in free agency, this is what I, Nick Swanson, would do if Andrew Berry called me right now and gave me the GM job for the offseason. Just to reiterate, we are not taking into consideration any potential trades that may occur, looking at you OBJ, or unexpected retirements that may occur. We’ll look at each team and which players make the most sense for the Browns to pursue.
