The Cleveland Browns have a handful of guys that will be entering the final year of their contract. Who’s playing in 2021 for an extension?

Coming in the near future, the Cleveland Browns are going to have a lot of decisions to make. While it may be clear now who they are going to extend when it comes to some players, they may not exactly know what the cost is going to be just yet.

For others, their future is undetermined here in Cleveland. For example, guys like Baker Mayfield, Wyatt Teller, and Nick Chubb are all entering the last year on their contracts, some with a 5th-year option as well.

It’s pretty safe to say that the Browns are going to extend two out of these three — if not all — should they stay on their current paths. For others, however, who is going to use 2021 as a contract season?

No. 3: Jamie Gillan

I’m not here to say Jamie Gillan had a terrible season, because he didn’t. However, I do think there was a drop-off between Gillan and his punting between two years ago and this past season. Having a solid punter is overlooked, especially when it comes to a kicker. If you’re a Browns fan that watches every single game, holding your breath on every Cody Parkey kick is not fun.

Gillan had a below-average season this year, as he averaged 44 yards per punt, which ranked 30th in the league. Gillan also had 20 punts that pinned opponents inside the 20 that ranked 27th, and his longest punt of the season which was 59 yards ranked 27th.

If Gillan wants an extension and wants to be here long term, he must have a better season next year.
