The 2020 NFL season is officially in the books after Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers knocked off Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 in Super Bowl LV. One of the 31 teams that did not win the Super Bowl is the Cleveland Browns, but the future is bright and oddsmakers think so as well.

According to DraftKings odds for Super Bowl LVI, the Browns are a +2200 favorite to win it all a year from now. The Browns have the 10th best odds in the entire NFL and the fourth-best odds in the AFC behind the Chiefs (Favorite at +550), the Ravens (+1200), and the Bills (+1200).

Obviously, these odds are extremely early, but this has to have Browns fans giddy with excitement for what could come in the 2021 season. The Browns finished 11-5 and made the playoffs for the first time in 18 years while winning a playoff game for the first time in 26 years. This led to head coach Kevin Stefanski being named the NFL Coach of the Year, which is even more impressive when you think about how this was his first year as a head coach and did this all in the most unique season to date, with most of the offseason being virtual.

ESPN’s way-too-early power rankings for the 2021 season list the Browns at seven. These aren’t the “same old Browns” anymore and legitimately have a chance at making even more noise in 2021. They were a play away from having a shot to knock off the Chiefs in the Divisional Round of the playoffs and that pain will be used to fuel this team moving forward.

The Browns will have to get better on the defensive side of the football, which they can do via the draft and free agency. In order for free agency to be a success, some players on the roster will likely have to restructure their contracts to free up some cap space. Two players that should heavily consider this the most for the betterment of the team are wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry. Whether they decide to do that or not remains to be seen.

The offense will be back in full force, led by quarterback Baker Mayfield, who took huge steps forward this past season, the offensive line, which as seen in Super Bowl LV will be essential for success, running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, plus the aforementioned receivers.

This team has a chance to be special for years to come and can only get better moving forward. If this team can strike rich in the draft and in free agency, don’t be surprised to see this team’s odds and ranks increase before the start of the 2021 season.
