Carl Lawson:

One of the splashier names you could see the Cleveland Browns have an interest in is defensive end Carl Lawson who spent the last four years in Ohio with the Cincinnati Bengals. Lawson was a fourth-round pick in the 2017 draft and had his best year as a rookie with 8.5 sacks.

Part of the reason Lawson has been limited in production the last three seasons with only 11.5 sacks total is because of the lack of talent around him. Lawson often faces double teams and is typically a creator of opportunities for others on the team.

The situation in Cleveland could be perfect for a breakout year for Lawson with Garrett taking up so much attention. Not to mention that Lawson has also proven to be a great run defender which is a huge plus for the Browns who look to transition to the dime package. The Bengals will likely have an interest in keeping Lawson, but the price tag will ultimately end up too high for them.

Lawson is one of four or five dominant pass rushers available this offseason and he could find himself in a bidding war with teams because of his age and talent. The Browns have the money, but with other needs, it’s hard to tell if Berry will be motivated to pony up the money. Lawson could be on the brink of a breakout year and is worth the investment.
