Daily Dawg Tags: What could Cleveland Browns learn from Super Bowl LV?

The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know
The Super Bowl is behind us, which means it’s officially time for the offseason. Of course, the Cleveland Browns were already in that mode and they are surely thinking about how to take the next step in 2021.
Cleveland had an impressive 11-5 campaign and won a playoff game as well, but they aren’t satisfied with that. They want to win more and the best way to do that is to see what’s working for other teams — and this past Sunday was a prime game to learn from.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV and they did it in large part due to their defensive outing. Every one of their pass rushers made their presence known and the Browns were hopefully paying attention.
Currently, Cleveland has one of the best pass rushers in the game in Myles Garrett — but he needs some help if they want to put on a show as Tampa Bay did. Here, our Daily Dawg Tags start out with a story looking at that very situation.
Cleveland Browns News
"“Bowles stayed away from blitzing Patrick Mahomes and, instead, relied on creating pressure without blitzing and using his resources in the back end to cover Kansas City’s dynamic playmakers. With the Chiefs’ offensive line in disarray, Patrick Mahomes spent much of Sunday night running away.”"
Labbe understands that Cleveland could have won against the Chiefs had their defense been able to make Mahomes look the way the Bucs did. While Mahomes ultimately was hurt against the Browns, he had built enough of a lead to keep them from catching up.
Browns Cut G Malcolm Prigdeon — Pete Smith, Browns Digest
"“The Cleveland Browns have released guard Malcolm Pridgeon from the Reserve/Opt Out list.”"
Pridgeon opted-out of the 2020 season and at the time, it seemed he might have been a long-shot to make the roster. However, they went through so many guards, that might have actually been his best chance to log some snaps as a starter. Here’s to hoping he can catch on with another team soon.
"“Cleveland Browns wide receiver Rashard Higgins and offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. were stopped and cited for drag racing on Jan. 5, days prior to their first playoff game. Weeks later, the case has now come to an end. Both players pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of speeding.”"
The best part of this story was when Higgins started tweeting out excuses for speeding, then deleted them realizing some people might not find it funny.
Marty Schottenheimer was greatest Browns coach of our generation
Elliot Kennel pays tribute to former head coach Marty Schottenheimer after he passed away Tuesday. Kennel says that Schottenheimer was the best coach may of us have seen in Cleveland and he’s not wrong. Thanks for the memories coach.
