2. Chris Godwin

One player who was expected to see an increased role in 2020 with the presence of Tom Brady in Tampa Bay was wide receiver, Chris Godwin. While it wasn’t a bad season for Godwin, it was certainly down from his production in 2019 with Jameis Winston at quarterback.

After earning a trip to the pro-bowl in 2019 with 1,333 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns, people just expected more than his 840 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2020. Keep in mind, Godwin did miss four games because of a hand injury and had limited motion once he returned because of the injury.

Either way, Godwin is a likely luxury that the Buccaneers won’t be able to bring back with so many free agents pending. And unlike many, Godwin is coming out of his rookie contract and will likely be looking to get his first big contract.

Godwin is another perfect fit for the Cleveland Browns as he can play inside or outside and stretch the field long ways or sideways. And although he wasn’t as sure-handed in 2020 with the hand injury, Godwin is known for being able to make catches in traffic, and not dropping the easy ones which fans would welcome.

The biggest concern with Godwin is will someone overpay him in the open market. There could be a team that’s more desperate for a wide receiver that is willing to pay more than the Browns. If the market opens soft, look for the Browns to be real contenders for Godwin. And with a salary cap decrease in 2021, receivers could be the one position general managers aren’t willing to overpay for.
