Cleveland Browns 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft J.J. Watt edition
By Sam Penix
The Browns need speed and YAC ability on offense and could be looking to replace a certain overpaid slot receiver. Even if that second part doesn’t end up happening, Elijah Moore makes a ton of sense for this team. Moore may be 5-11 and 184-pounds, but that didn’t stop him from dominating college football’s top conference to the tune of 86 catches for 1,193 yards and eight touchdowns in 2020. He’s explosive, fast, quick, agile (those are not synonyms), and physical. He fights for the ball well downfield and is a monster after the catch.
Put simply, Moore gets open and creates yards with the ball in his hands; those are two things Cleveland does not currently have in its wide receiver room. Moore wouldn’t fix everything, but he’d go a long way towards adding some threat of a downfield throw, which would open things up underneath for the tight ends and running backs. Everything in the Stefanski offense is intertwined, and it will be interesting to see how the position groups are molded as the scheme evolved.
Baker Mayfield finished the season on a tear, and was basically a top-three passer from Week 7 onward. Imagine what he could do with a receiver corps that actually fits his strengths as a quarterback.
