Cleveland Browns pick-a-player: Adding one free agent from each AFC West team
By Nick Swanson
Kansas City Chiefs: Daniel Sorensen, Safety
This won’t be a popular pick among Browns fans. Daniel Sorensen is the man who can be, partially, to blame for the Browns Divisional Round loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Sorensen was the one who forced the fumble into the end zone after making helmet-to-helmet contact with Browns’ wide receiver Rashard Higgins at the end of the first half.
Sorensen really came into his own this past season, having a career year in almost every statistical category. His progression was a huge part of that improved Chiefs defense that helped them get back to the Super Bowl. Sorensen isn’t the greatest coverage player but he excels in tackling and making contact with the offensive players whether that be forcing them into other defenders or taking a quarterback out on a blitz. His versatility makes him a valuable asset in this year’s class.
The veteran defensive back has experience playing both the free and strong safety positions as well as a hybrid linebacker. His versatility in the secondary could be of great use to Cleveland and his veteran experience could help out this young Browns defense.
He’s an instant upgrade over what Karl Joseph was last year and could bring the championship DNA in to help chase a Super Bowl.
