3. Donovan Peoples-Jones – Wide Receiver

One guy that never lived up to expectations in college is wide receiver, Donovan Peoples-Jones. A once five-star recruit from Detroit, MI was supposed to be the savior for Michigan football. After a disappointing tenure full of drops and disappointment in Ann Arbor, Peoples-Jones became a sixth-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2020.

After a shortened offseason, Peoples-Jones won the role as the fourth wide-receiver and saw his snaps increase tremendously after the injury to Beckham.

While the stats were below average in 2020 with 14 catches on 20 targets for 304 yards and two touchdowns, Peoples-Jones had two of the biggest plays of the season for the Browns offense.

The 75-yard bomb vs. the Tennessee Titans, and the late touchdown catch vs. the Cincinnati Bengals that won the Browns the game. It’s not often a rookie has two season-changing plays like that, but DPJ did exactly that.

With it looking more and more likely that Rashard Higgins moves on this offseason, Peoples-Jones could become an even bigger target in 2021 with his big frame and speed. The biggest struggle for the Browns last season was tight man-to-man coverage, and with a year of experience, Peoples-Jones could be that guy.

Peoples-Jones has all the talent in the world, he just needed a fresh start to get back in the right mindset. After a strong rookie campaign, I expect him to make great strides in 2021 with a 600-yard season and four to five touchdowns as well.
