The Cleveland Browns perfect offseason checklist
The Cleveland Browns have a very exciting offseason ahead of them with plenty to do to make sure this team is ready to compete for a championship.
Hopefully, the Cleveland Browns will get back to some normalcy this offseason after a somewhat different experience in 2020. There’s plenty for general manager Andrew Berry and his staff to accomplish and plenty of talent to be added to an already impressive roster. Luckily, this year will be a little easier because they won’t have to worry about finding a quarterback to save the franchise.
Instead, the Browns will look to add talent in free agency and the draft to add to positions of weakness on the roster. Most of those moves will be on the defensive side of the ball — it’s no secret that the Browns defense was the weakest unit of the three in 2020.
Cleveland needs starters and solid backups at all levels of the defense. What they don’t add in free agency can be added in the 2021 Draft that follows. With the 26th pick in this year’s draft, Cleveland will be drafted later than we are used to but plenty of defensive talent should still fall to the Browns.
There are also a plethora of pass rushers available in free agency this year so there’s more than one way to skin a pigskin (see what I did there).
Contracts of players on the current roster will need to be restructured to free up money in order to pursue these free agents. There are also players on the current roster whose contracts will need to be extended before next offseason.
There is plenty to do and plenty of time to do it, so here is the Browns perfect offseason checklist.
