Don’t get your hopes up when it comes to these four free agents, because they likely won’t land with the Cleveland Browns

After two big offseasons of bringing in talent, the Cleveland Browns will likely be much quieter in 2021. Not only do they have a good chunk of talent on the roster, but they also must be more mindful of the money they spend because of the salary cap. The Browns are by no means in trouble when it comes to the salary cap, but with a decrease in 2021 because of COVID-19, you may not see any real splash signings.

Not only that, remember Cleveland had injuries and holdouts last year that will return. Greedy Williams (cornerback), Grand Delpit (safety), and Andrew Billings (defensive tackle) didn’t play a single snap last season and will all likely be starters in 2021.

While the Browns will certainly bring in some free agents, don’t be surprised if these big names don’t come that have been rumored to be interested.

4. Marvin Jones – Wide Receiver

One name that has been circulating the media as a possible destination for the Cleveland Browns is interior receiver Marvin Jones who previously played the last five seasons with the Detroit Lions. Jones had a few good years from 2015 through 2017 but then struggled before putting up another solid year in 2020.

Jones finished the season with 76 catches, 978 yards, to go with nine touchdowns and became one of Matthew Stafford’s favorite targets. After mediocre years in 2018 and 2019, Jones likely earned himself a nice payday for 2021.

While Jones isn’t young at 30, he still has plenty of gas in the tank. He has also mentioned that he is hungry for a Super Bowl ring. Jones may be willing to sign below market value because of wanting to win, but will he view the Browns as a serious contender?

Look for Jones to join the Packers, Buccaneers, or Chiefs on a ridiculously low one-year deal to get his ring and then try to get paid one more time. Unfortunately, the Browns will be a step behind in this chase.
