Cleveland Browns: 83-player comprehensive free agency target list
By Sam Penix
Cornerback
Patrick Peterson
Perhaps unlikely given Peterson’s previous contracts, but he isn’t the player he used to be. In a CB2 role, he could still be effective though, and what’s one more LSU Tiger?
Brian Poole
Mackensie Alexander
Mike Hilton
All three of Poole, Alexander, and Hilton are solid slot corners, a role which Kevin Johnson filled at a less than ideal level. Slots are typically quite cheap, so the Browns should be able to take advantage of a deep free-agent class.
Michael Davis
Xavier Rhodes
Ronald Darby
K’Waun Williams
Gareon Conley
Conley missed all of 2020 with an ankle injury, and has been a disappointment since he went 24th overall in 2017. Still, he’s not a bad player, and depending on his market, could be worth taking a chance on.
William Jackson III
Kevin King
Kevin King had an atrocious playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but his 6-3 frame could be valuable in Joe Woods’ cover-3, and perhaps moving him to safety wouldn’t be a terrible idea.
Troy Hill
Hill could be a very good value this year, given he won’t be paid like a CB1. He’s capable both outside and in the slot.
Nickell Robey-Coleman
Chidobe Awuzie
Jason Verrett
Verrett has always been a great player, but he’s never been able to stay healthy. He played in 13 games this past season, and reminded people of his talent. If he hits the market, it will be interesting to see how much teams are willing to commit to him given his injury history.
T.J. Carrie
Ahkello Witherspoon
Sidney Jones
Shaquill Griffin
Griffin will likely be one of the more expensive players on this list, but he’d be a great fit in the Browns scheme.
Cam Sutton
Desmond King
