Greedy Williams missed the entire 2020 NFL Season with a shoulder injury, but the Cleveland Browns cornerback just tweeted he’s officially returning

There’s no denying the Cleveland Browns secondary was a mess in 2020. They struggled to stop anyone in pass coverage and the problems seemed to only get worse rather than improve throughout the season.

Of course, this wasn’t unexpected when you look at the injuries Cleveland suffered. The two main setbacks came from their 2019 and 2020 second-round selections as both Greedy Williams and Grant Delpit missed the entire season due to injuries.

Williams, their top pick in 2019, was sidelined with a shoulder injury that really was clouded in uncertainty. The issue was reported to be with his nerves, which left him without a timetable for a return. The good news is, the issue seems to be in the rearview finally as Williams tweeted out on Thursday that his return is official.

Previously, Williams had hinted at a potential return in the postseason as the LSU product wanted to be out there with his teammates when they finally ended their playoff drought. Unfortunately, he was never cleared and had to watch the Browns play the Steelers and Chiefs from home.

The timing of Williams’ return is significant in that Cleveland might not feel as pressed to land a cornerback in the first round of the upcoming draft. Without knowing when the nerve would start firing in his shoulder, corner felt like the No. 1 need.

While his return doesn’t negate the need for depth at the position, the lack of urgency can be huge. Instead of reaching for someone just for the sake of filling a massive hole, the Browns can now look elsewhere at No. 26 if the top players — such as Jaycee Horn, Caleb Farley, and Ifeatu Melifonwu — are already gone.

As for Williams’ former teammate at LSU, Grant Delpit is also expected to be back in 2021 after suffering a torn Achilles, although we have not had anything official come out yet saying he’s at 100 percent.
