Cleveland Browns pick-a-player: Adding one free agent from each NFC East team

Dallas Cowboys – Chidobe Awuzie, Cornerback
I can already hear the twitching of your fingers, ready to tear me to shreds, waiting to see if I put Dak Prescott on here for the Cowboys. Don’t worry Browns fans, it’s not him. I truly believe that Baker Mayfield is, at the very least, the immediate future at the quarterback position for the Cleveland Browns as long as he continues to improve under Kevin Stefanski. The free agent that the Browns should sign from the Dallas Cowboys is Chidobe Awuzie.
I was very high on Awuzie when he came into the league back in 2017. He’s been okay, not incredible, but decent. I don’t think he’ll be getting big money anywhere so this is simply a move for depth. Awuzie has shown flashes of his coverage ability early on in his career but hasn’t really been able to capitalize on those moments. He hasn’t had a consistent unit around him that will help him learn and grow as a player and I think he’ll have that in Cleveland.
He’s still young, only 25-years-old, and has a lot of room for improvement. With the coaching staff that Kevin Stefanski has put together, this may be the place where he’s most likely to be set up for success.
He suffered a hamstring injury early in the season but then came back to a team that had completely fallen apart. With how bad the Browns secondary truly was last season, the addition of Awuzie would only help it improve.
