Cleveland Browns: 26 cornerback targets in free agency
By Sam Penix
23. Mike Hilton – Pittsburgh Steelers – 26
Yet another slot corner, Hilton earned just over $3.2 million last season in Pittsburgh, and has been one of the league’s better slots since his 2017 rookie campaign. The Steelers aren’t exactly flush with cap space, so it appears Hilton will be free to hit the market. Stealing a solid defensive back from a division rival isn’t a bad idea.
22. Michael Davis – Los Angeles Chargers – 26
Undrafted in 2017, Davis has developed into a solid starter for the Chargers, with his 6-2 196-pound frame coming in handy on the boundary. He could be an interesting target for an escalator deal, allowing him to hit the open market once again after the salary cap returns to normal.
21. Xavier Rhodes – Indianapolis Colts -30
Rhodes had two very bad seasons in 2018 and 2019, which tanked his value to the point where he signed with Indy for just $3 million. He bounced back in a huge way, and could be a good option for the Browns if they truly wish to commit to the zone coverage scheme.
20. Ronald Darby – Washington Redskins – 27
He’s bounced around the league, playing for three teams in six seasons, but Darby has found success everywhere he’s been. He made $3 million last year, which is a common theme with players on this list; there is excellent value to be found in the secondary every single offseason, something the Browns must take advantage of.
