Cleveland Browns: 26 cornerback targets in free agency
By Sam Penix
12. T.J. Carrie – Indianapolis Colts – 30
Cleveland’s slot corner in 2018 and 2019, Carrie had two middling seasons with the Browns and was a cap casualty last offseason. He signed with the Colts for just over $1 million and had a solid campaign. For minimal financial commitment, there are plenty of worse options out there.
11. Ahkello Witherspoon – San Francisco 49ers – 25
Another 6-2 boundary corner with speed, Witherspoon has the best season of his career in 2020, but he played starter-level snaps in just five games. That sample size will certainly have an impact on his market, but he could end up being a quality value if he can keep up his recent performance in a larger role.
10. Sidney Jones – Jacksonville Jaguars – 24
A fantastic collegiate player, Jones suffered a torn Achilles at his pro day, which dropped him from a potential top-15 pick all the way to the middle of the second round. He barely played as a rookie, and was bad in 2018, but improved in 2019 and outplayed his sub-$1 million contract with the Jags last season, but again succumbed to injuries.
Jones likely won’t cost much given his history, and could again provide much more value than his salary would indicate, if he can stay healthy.
