A 7-round Cleveland Browns mock draft ahead of NFL free agency

Legal tampering is set to begin on March 15th, and the Cleveland Browns will be making some moves over the next few weeks.

Those moves will give a clearer picture of how the team plans to attack the 2021 NFL Draft, but until then, we’re forced to fill all of the current holes on the roster.

This week’s mock uses The Draft Network’s simulator, and no holds were barred in this edition. Read on if you want to be disappointed on draft day.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Miami. GregoryRousseau. 1.26. EDGE. player. 834

The preseason consensus EDGE1, Gregory Rousseau opted out of his junior season, which has caused some to forget about him, which is perfectly fine, as long as that means he falls to pick 26. Rousseau stands 6-6 and 265-pounds and racked up 16 sacks in 2019.

He did that basically through his superior physical traits, as he lacked pretty much any technical refinement. He also played the season at 19 years old. Who knows what he could have accomplished in 2020, especially with another top defender in Jaelen Phillips playing opposite him.

Rousseau is incredibly raw. He’s also immensely talented and productive. He hasn’t played EDGE for very long, and that means he’s nowhere near his ceiling.

He’s a massive project, but could start as a rookie and make an impact simply because he’s so big and athletic. He needs to add strength and mass, and develop rush moves and feel, but his potential is truly off the charts. He’s a likely top-15 pick, but he’s the no-brainer selection in this mock.
