Cleveland Browns pre-free agency 7-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft
By Sam Penix
One dynamic receiver helps, but one is not enough. Jaelon Darden would provide separation ability from the slot, something the Browns don’t currently have. He can also line up outside and win deep, so he’s not a one-dimensional player. Darden is a small-school guy who has been gaining steam as the draft draws closer, so landing him in the fifth round is becoming increasingly unlikely.
The same goes for Tay Gowan, whose physical traits are special. He’s a former JUCO player who transferred to UCF and played just one season there, which will make his stock quite interesting; where is the NFL willing to take a player with so little experience (in a less-than-stellar conference), especially in this draft cycle, where information is so limited?
Another uber-talented corner, Robert Rochell also has limited experience and didn’t look good at the Senior Bowl before bowing out with an injury. Still, his athleticism doesn’t come around often, and some team will be willing to take a chance on him, trusting their coaching staff to draw that potential out of him.
This may be the most unrealistic Browns mock draft thus far, but that’s where the fun lies. This class would drastically improve the offense while setting the defense up for success, the degree of which depends on how the super-athletes at cornerback develop.
Following free agency activity, these mocks will begin to become much more “realistic”, so enjoy the fun while it lasts.
