Looking at four cap casualty veterans that could improve the Cleveland Browns roster

The Cleveland Browns could end up a recipient of a few veteran cap casualties for the 2021 season. With the latest news of the salary cap for 2021 dropping from $198.2 million to $182.5, there have been quite a few surprising cuts, with much more still likely to come.

While elite talents will still likely get paid, a few under the radar guys could fetch substantially less money than they would have in a normal year. Because of that, you will likely see a large number of one-year deals and guys worrying more about winning than money.

Teams with large amounts of cap space like the New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, and New England Patriots could find a few sweet deals in the market, but the Browns are also in a good spot with nearly $25 million to spend. Not to mention the team will likely have a few cuts of their own that could free up more money for Andrew Berry to spend.

While it’s tough to add to many of these cap casualty veterans, having one or two on the team can be extremely valuable on the field and in the locker room. The Browns have an extremely young roster and it can be easy to lose focus. The veterans can keep the “kids” grounded and really be beneficial when the playoff push comes.

While the team is set on offense, you very well could see Berry be interested in a few of these veterans on defense. Here are four (more) recently-released players that could make sense on the Browns roster in 2021.
