3. EDGE Romeo Okwara

Carl Lawson of the Cincinnati Bengals and Trey Hendrickson of the New Orleans Saints are probably the better players on the market. The problem is that they both play almost exclusively on the right side, which is where the majority of Myles Garrett’s snaps have come. As his sample size on both sides has increased, it has become clear that Garrett is more effective as a right end.

The same goes for both Hendrickson and Lawson, although they have not played on the left side enough for that statement to be confidently made about him. If you’re going to be paying a player over $12 million per year, you’d better be certain that he’s a good fit and doesn’t necessitate making your best defender less effective.

This is why Romeo Okwara may make more sense. He plays primarily on the left side, and is more effective over there. He’s not a great athlete and isn’t very good against the run. He also didn’t produce mich over his first four seasons, so all of these will factor into his next contract, which Pro Football Focus is projecting to be under $20 million for three seasons, which is exactly the kind of deal the Browns should be interested in.
