What are the biggest needs for the Cleveland Browns as the free agency period prepares to open?

For any big Cleveland Browns fan or just an NFL fan in general, mid-March is almost as exciting as September when the season kicks off. The free agency period is just days away, and we are a little over a month away from the 2021 NFL draft that will be held in downtown Cleveland.

After an 11-5 season in 2020 and the organization’s first playoff win since 1994, The Cleveland Browns are extremely close to having a roster that can compete for a Super Bowl title. While it will certainly be tough with the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Green Bay Packers also with loaded rosters, the Browns are in that next tier of teams who could win it all.

2020 NFL coach of the year, Kevin Stefanski, came into Cleveland with big expectations and lived up to every single one of them after a horrendous 2019 season that ended in the firing of one and done head coach, Freddie Kitchens. Stefanski has a certain poise about him that is infectious and has brought out the best in all the Browns personnel.

First-year general manager, Andrew Berry, has also started out on fire. He drafted well in 2020 and has added a lot of talent to the roster while also managing the salary cap. After the monster extension with Myles Garrett last season, the Browns will now look to find long-term solutions with both Baker Mayfield and Denzel Ward.

The 2021 offseason will be difficult to add a ton of talent because of the reduction in the salary cap, but many of those teams mentioned above will only be on the sell side because of bigger cap issues. If the Browns can address these three concerns in free agency, they could easily compete for a Super Bowl in 2021.
