The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including a look at how Andrew Berry is again dominating free agency

For the second season in a row, general manager Andrew Berry went out and made a splash signing early that filled a massive hole for the Cleveland Browns.

In 2020, the big move to fill a hole was when he signed right tackle Jack Conklin as he looked to rebuild the offensive line. Berry also added Austin Hooper, but the tight end spot wasn’t a massive need the way tackle was.

As for this offseason, Berry did it again as he revamped the Cleveland secondary with one move — signing John Johnson. The signing is being universally praised as he added one of the more versatile defensive backs in the class.

The story on signing Johnson and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

"“The Cleveland Browns have agreed to sign former Los Angeles Ramssafety John Johnson to a three-year contract, sources told ESPN.The deal is worth $33.75 million with $24 million guaranteed, a source tells ESPN’s Adam Schefter.”"

When you’re talking about a safety, $11 million is a lot but Johnson is well worth it. His addition could be a huge plus for a defense that needs a shot in the arm.

Safety John Johnson III turned down ‘significantly more money’ from another team to sign with the Browns, reps say — Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

“Browns new safety John Johnson III turned down ‘significantly more money’ from another team to sign with Cleveland, his agents told cleveland.com Monday.”

If this statement is true, then we should be ecstatic about being Cleveland Browns fans. This team is no longer being laughed at and free agents want to join them since there’s something special being built.

Cleveland Browns’ 2021 offseason: 5 free agency signing predictions — Ben Axelrod, WKYC

"“While this year’s list of free agent edge rushers than deeper than any in recent memory, Carl Lawson stands out as the clear top target. With a little more than $24 million in cap space — the 12th most in the league — the Browns should be able to make a high-priced offer to Lawson, who would fill one of Cleveland’s biggest needs opposite Myles Garrett.”"

Axelrod had the Browns signing Carl Lawson, which would be awesom. He also predicted Anthony Harris, which is unlikely to happen now that they landed John Johnson.
