3 free agent receivers the Cleveland Browns must consider at a discount
By Greg Newland
1. Breshad Perriman
One name that continues to pop up on the Browns’ radar is Breshad Perriman. This name should sound familiar as he was a member of the Browns in 2018 and became a trusted target of Baker Mayfield near the end of the season.
Perriman’s best season came with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019 where he had 645 receiving yards to go along with six touchdowns. Perriman won’t be a 1,000-yard receiver, but the Browns don’t need that. They need a guy who can catch the ball and get off the line in man coverage.
With the emergency of Donovan Peoples-Jones, an addition at wide receiver would be an insurance policy for Odell Beckham in case of injury.
Perriman likely makes the most sense on this list because of the past relationship with Mayfield. They have already proven that they have a connection and could likely pick up where they left off.
That would be a big help because so many would be devistated to lose Higgins, including Mayfield. Higgins is a very likable guy who has been in Cleveland his entire five-year career.
While it would sad to see Higgins go, it would likely be the right move. The Browns need a speedster, and at a discount, a deal with a new wideout would be even sweeter.
