The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including a look back over their successful start to free agency

The first week of free agency in the NFL has been exciting, to say the least. And for Cleveland Browns fans, it’s also been very satisfying.

Second-year general manager Andrew Berry has once again proven he understands how to build a roster as he’s methodically been revamping their struggling defense. Berry signed two talented defensive backs away from the Rams — John Johnson and Troy Hill — and also added a former first-round pick in Takk McKinely at defensive end.

He’s clearly not done as he also held a visit with Anthony Walker, a former linebacker from Indianapolis — a visit that came on the heels of re-signing Malcolm Smith.

On top of the defensive moves, he retained not only Rashard Higgins but also return man JoJo Natson. A look at all these moves and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.

Source: CB Troy Hill signing 4-year, $24 million deal with Cleveland Browns — Jake Trotter, ESPN

"“Hill, who is from Youngstown, Ohio, had a breakout season for the Los Angeles Rams in 2020, starting all 16 games for the first time in his six-year career. He had three interceptions and three defensive touchdowns for the NFL’s top-ranked defense.”"

It’s a homecoming for Hill as he joins the Browns on a rather affordable deal. The second player taken away from the Rams secondary, Hill could prove to be one of the better defensive backs on this team for the next several seasons.

DeWine, Cleveland Browns working to keep NFL Draft safe amid coronavirus pandemic — Natasha Anderson, FOX 8

"“Governor Mike DeWine says Ohio’s health leaders have been working closely with the Cleveland Browns to ensure safety protocols are met during the 2021 NFL Draft in Cleveland.”"

Last season, the draft was supposed to go down in Vegas but the pandemic forced the league to call an audible. It appears as though they will try and have it in Cleveland this year but clearly, a solid plan needs to be in place to ensure everyone is safe.

Our own Greg Newland takes a look at Anthony Walker, who was in Berea on Thursday. He compared Walker to B.J. Goodson, saying he’s not a ‘splash’ player but could be a savvy veteran.
