Extra games: New England Patriots and Houston Texans (2-0)

Okay, let’s get this game out of the way. The Patriots are bad, and they had one of the least talented rosters in the league last year. We’ve seen Bill Belichick throw the bank at free agents so far this offseason, signing Jonnu Smith, Hunter Henry, Davon Godchaux, Kyle Van Noy, Nelson Agholor, Ted Karras, Matt Judon, Jalen Mills, and Raekwon McMillan. This team appears to have gotten better on paper, that’s yet to be determined until the season kicks off, however.

Cam Newton was without a doubt one of, if not the, worst starting quarterbacks in the NFL last season. Half of the defense had opted out because of COVID and it was a nightmare for Belichick. That being said, the fact that he was somehow able to coach them to a 7-9 record last season is absolutely incredible. I do think the Patriots will be better next year, but I don’t think that they’ll be able to beat the Browns.

I really don’t need to mention the Houston Texans, do I? This team is absolutely terrible, their star player wants out, the whole front office is new — easy win here for the Browns.

The mystery team isn’t included in this because we have no clue as to who it’s going to be.

This Browns team was already good, but got significantly, and I can’t emphasize that enough, better with the additions of John Johnson III and Troy Hill. Those two in particular should be the key to taking this average Browns defense to a near elite level for years to come.

Cleveland has a more talented team a better quarterback, which is exactly what it takes to win in this league. This should be an easy win, assuming they don’t “Browns it up” like this franchise is consistently known for doing.
