4 Cleveland Browns who will benefit the most from free agency moves

3. Grant Delpit – Safety
After a season-ending injury in training camp last season, Grant Delpit will be hungrier than ever to return to the field. Delpit already has a chip on his shoulder for falling into the second round of the 2020 draft and has yet to release that anger.
Not only will Delpit finally be healthy, but he will also come into the season with one of the smartest ball-hawking safeties in the league in John Johnson. Safety is one position where a team can’t afford to be out of position, and Johnson will never allow that to happen.
With Johnson on the field to help, Delpit will be able to play free and be exactly what defensive coordinator Joe Wood dreamt of, an elite rover. Delpit will be the fifth defensive back in Wood’s dime scheme and will need to play free to be effective. He will have to be good in coverage and be able to step in the box for run support.
While that is a ton to ask of a 22-year-old kid, having an established presence like Johnson beside him will make this so much easier. With this updated roster Delpit is set up to be the comeback player of the year. While that is a big ask, it’s a definite possibility.
