A 7-round 2021 Cleveland Browns mock draft as April begins

The Cleveland Browns may still make more free agency moves (perhaps a certain edge-rusher with dreadlocks), but the bulk of their additions have already been made.

The defense looks much different than from last season, but there is still much work to be done.

Their offense isn’t all set either, and in this seven-round Browns mock draft, both sides of the ball are infused with young talent.

Denzel Ward is a great No.1 cornerback, and could very well be extended this summer. Greedy Williams played significantly better as a rookie than most remember, but while he has a great deal of ability and potential, the Browns must go about their business as if he doesn’t exist; he missed all of 2020 due to a nerve issue in his shoulder that just recently began improving.

Williams was told by doctors that his shoulder will never be 100 percent, which isn’t a death sentence, but it’s less than encouraging considering he hasn’t been able to participate in football activities in nearly a calendar year (not to mention the strength and conditioning impact his condition had).

Cleveland needs a No.2 cornerback, preferably one who has size and athleticism to spare.

Enter Ifeatu Melifonwu. He’s a fantastically explosive player with great size at 6-2, 205 pounds, and is a much more fluid athlete than his pro-day agility testing would indicate. Melifonwu has work to do, but he’s ridiculously talented, already a quality cover man, and his ceiling is as high as just about anyone else’s.
