The Cleveland Browns won 11 games in 2020 but could be better in 2021, especially if these three sophomores take the next step in their development

Winning 11 games was fantastic for the Cleveland Browns, but the best part about their success is how young the roster is.

Cleveland isn’t loaded with veteran players which is highly encouraging. Sure, they do have several experienced starters such as Jarvis Landry, Joel Bitonio, and Sheldon Richardson. But the majority of their talent lies in younger stars still entering their prime such as Baker Mayfield, Myles Garrett, and Nick Chubb.

And there could be even more young players starting to step up in 2021 thanks to some solid drafting out of general manager Andrew Berry.

With that said, we look at three players who will be entering year two that could shine for the Browns.

3. Jacob Phillips, Linebacker

A third-round pick in 2020, Jacob Phillips was a tackling machine for LSU. As a pro, he showed that he can still get things done but he struggled with his health.

Phillips played in just nine games and had 25 tackles but 10 of those came in their Week 17 win over Pittsburgh. That performance showed just what they have in the young man and as long as he stays healthy, his sophomore campaign should be a lot of fun to watch.

And if we are being honest, the Browns could really use that. Their linebackers weren’t exactly setting the world on fire in 2020, so if Phillips can develop into a star, it would go a long way toward improving their entire defense.
