Browns mock draft: 7-round mock draft weekend edition
By Greg Newland
Round 6 – No. 211: Tarron Jackson – Edge, Coastal Carolina
Another edge prospect that seemed to fall further than some expected, is Tarron Jackson from Coastal Carolina. In the last two seasons, Jackson has a total of 18 sacks and 26.5 tackles for loss, which is incredible no matter where you play.
At the senior bowl, Jackson showed up 15-20 lighter and really showed he had improved his quickness. Jackson has tremendous hands and does a fantastic job of keeping blockers off him, so with the improved speed he could be a dominant player in the NFL.
Jackson will certainly need time to develop, but if the Browns snag him in the sixth round this year, he could be giving you some production by the end of the year.
Round 7 – No. 257: Riley Cole – Linebacker, South Alabama
Another late-round development player could be Riley Cole from South Alabama. Cole was extremely productive at South Alabama and racked up 96 tackles in just 10 games in 2020.
Cole is a player that relies on his intelligence to make up for the athleticism and power that he lacks. Going from a smaller level of college football to the NFL could be a tough transition.
However, his heart and passion could very well allow him to be an excellent special team player. Not only that, on goal-line situations, Cole could be an additional linebacker that isn’t afraid to plug a hole, as long as he doesn’t have to cover a ton of ground.
