Cleveland Browns can attack NFL Draft in plethora of ways
Go all out
If Cleveland wants to stay on the attack this offseason, they could trade up a few spots. If the Browns can manage to get into the low 20’s they still have a chance to snag a star and fill in an upcoming hole all in one move.
There are three players the Browns should seriously consider trading up for. Tulsa linebacker Zaven Collins, South Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn, and Florida State cornerback Asante Samuel Jr.
The linebacking room for the Browns may be crowded, but it is still in some question. Players like Mack Wilson have still have not fully lived up to the hype, and his longevity on the browns is still uncertain. With these questions in place, why not get arguably the most athletic linebacker in the draft?
Collins has already mentioned that he loves the Cleveland Browns organization, and the Browns community seems to love him right back. If Collins is still there in the low 20s, don’t be surprised if Cleveland moves up a few spots to grab him. He could be the perfect addition of athleticism to the linebacking corps.
If Cleveland decides to attack in a different direction they could go the cornerback route. Coming into his third-year cornerback Greedy Williams has some serious health questions still at large. He is reported to be 100 percent ready after missing the entire 2020 season. But with players like Williams, it’s hard to say if these injuries can come back in the future. With this situation, it may be smart to trade up and grab Jaycee Horn or Asante Samuel Jr.
The Browns have already shown interest in Horn, but after his very impressive pro day, there’s a serious chance he doesn’t make it to 26. Horn is a complete and physical corner that can help lock down some larger receivers.
As for Samuel Jr, he is a very smart and aggressive corner that could greatly compliment Denzel Ward on the other side. Samuel could thrive as a No. 2 or in the slot. His build and ball skills can make him a great tool to plug all around the secondary.
Any one of these players can benefit the Browns in a different way, it just depends on what they see as a bigger concern. Either way, trading up for any of these players may be the best thing for Cleveland.
