Sit back and relax

Lastly, the Browns can keep the 26th pick and snag somebody to help on the defensive line.

The idea of bolstering the defensive tackle position could be very intriguing. They signed 31-year-old Malik Jackson to replace Larry Ogunjobi, but this is a temporary solution to a bigger problem. With Sheldon Richardson coming up on his final year under contract and turning 31 years old, it would only make sense for him and Cleveland to part ways after the season.

A pick that may be too appetizing to resist is Alabama defensive tackle Christian Barmore. With the Crimson Tide, Barmore had nothing but improvement and production. His ability to be explosive paired along with violent hands blossomed this previous season. In 2020 he racked 8 sacks and 3 forced fumbles, which are highly productive numbers from an interior defensive lineman.

His pass-rush ability may not even be his best asset. Barmore is a force in the run game, a place where the Browns defense tends to struggle. But as with every prospect, there are some concerns about Barmore.

Barmore did only play two years with the Tide and is still very raw. His potential is out of this world. The only question is, will Cleveland be able to get that potential all the way out of him. Barmore could heavily benefit from playing behind veterans like Malik Jackson and Sheldon Richardson. If he learns how to use his hands more effectively and not just violently he could become a long-time starter in this league.

If Barmore finds himself sitting on the board at pick 26, the Browns likely won’t be able to turn away from the opportunity. If he does get taken before 26, it still makes sense to draft the best available defensive lineman to help take some attention away from Myles Garrett.
