The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including Todd McShay breaking down his pick for the team at No. 26

Defense is the unanimous side of the ball for the Cleveland Browns in many mock drafts but exactly where they will focus varies based on who is making the prediction.

There are those who believe that they will go with a cornerback to start opposite Denzel Ward but there are also still plenty of people hoping for a linebacker.

As for Todd McShay of ESPN, he sides with a group of people that see the defensive end position as one of great need. For that reason, he’s tabbed Miami’s Gregory Rousseau as their choice at No. 26 and gives some solid reasoning behind that move.

ESPN’s Todd McShay explains his latest prediction for the Browns at No. 26 — Anthony Poisal, ClevelandBrowns.com

"“I just feel like putting another edge rusher on the opposite side would benefit Cleveland,” McShay said Monday in a Zoom call with reporters. “The offense seems to be set, and I think the defense is where they need to continue to upgrade. I think that would be a really good spot for Cleveland in the first round to take an edge rusher.”"

Rousseau was one of the top prospects heading into the 2020 season but then he opted out of the campaign and that might have hurt his stock. He’s still a freakish athlete but there were some technical parts of his game that scouts wanted to see cleaned up.

In the end, this could be huge for the Browns because his talent suggests he should go much earlier than 26. And should he reach his potential across from Myles Garrett, things could be a lot of fun in Cleveland.

Browns dodged a bullet by passing on Sam Darnold in 2018

Don’t worry, Colin Cowherd still thinks Sam Darnold was the better choice than Baker Mayfield, but that doesn’t mean he’s right. For months, it seemed obvious that Cleveland was going to pick Darnold and they didn’t.

After seeing Darnold traded by the Jets this Monday, it became obvious that the Browns dodged a major bullet. Of course, not all the blame is on Darnold — that team was a dumpster fire. But hey, Mayfield survived several coaching changes and always showed more promise than Darnold. Best of luck in Carolina Sam, but thankfully, Baker was the correct pick.

NFL creates OnePass app for fans to reserve tickets to attend 2021 NFL Draft in Cleveland for free — Tim Bielik, Cleveland.com

"“Fans must download the app and pick a date and session to reserve a free ticket. Each ticket will be good for two adults and up to five minors. But fans will only be able to attend one session over the three days of the draft.”"

Attending the draft in a a pandemic won’t be easy but the NFL is doing all it can to make things safe for fans this season, while also trying to return the draft to a sense of normalcy following a fully virtual draft in 2020.

Zaven Collins compared to other Cleveland Browns linebackers

Elliot Kennel doesn’t seem to be as impressed with Zaven Collins as some other folks are. He says he appears to be a decent linebacker but based on the way he was talked up, he should have lit up his pro day. That makes Kennel concerned that he would be too similar to other linebackers Cleveland has had, or currently has.
