Browns mock draft: Filling the remaining holes in 7-round mock
By Randy Gurzi
Replacing Larry Ogunjobi with Malik Jackson is an improvement for the Browns — no offense meant to Ogunjobi, Jackson is just a very talented player. The problem is, Jackson is already 31-years of age — and Sheldon Richardson will be that same age in November.
That means Cleveland needs to get younger at the position and they do that here in the draft by taking Alim McNeill out of North Carolina State. McNeill is a large man at 6-foot-2 and 315-pounds and he excels at setting the line of scrimmage.
He’s developed a lot in his time with the Wolfpack but what’s even more exciting is that he still has so much room to grow as a player. He could serve as a rotational d-tackle early on but the sky is the limit.
After seeing Kendall Lamm leave in free agency, the Browns need another swing tackle. Chris Hubbard will hopefully be back but he also served as the top backup guard a season ago, and is coming off an injury as well. For that reason, Brenden Jaimes is taken in the fourth round of this Browns mock draft.
He was a starter for Nebraska at left tackle and is considered a developmental prospect. For the 6-foot-5, 300-pound Jaimes, he couldn’t find a better coach to develop under than Bill Callahan who has done wonders for the players in Cleveland already.
