Running Back and Quarterback

The two positions on this team that need next to no additions are the quarterback and running back positions. Not only is Baker Mayfield the clear starter at quarterback, but Case Keenum is also a top-notch backup who is under contract through the 2022 season.

Not to mention, the Browns likely have the best running back tandem in the NFL. Nick Chubb has performed at an elite level, although he is out of contract after the 2021 season. Kareem Hunt has served as the backup and is under contract through 2022.

While there is no doubt the Browns will have an extremely tough decision next season on if they re-sign Chubb, I don’t see that having any effect on this year’s draft.

Fortunately for the Browns, and unfortunately for Chubb, running backs change in this league as often as most change their clothes. And while Chubb has certainly been special, if he takes the money he deserves, it’s unlikely he will remain with the Browns. Teams that are this talented just can’t afford to pay running backs.

With that being said, I don’t see the Browns drafting a player at either position in 2021. The team may sign an undrafted running back to come to camp as they start to think about the future, but with so many options, Berry will likely punt until the next offseason to figure out that mess.
