Wide Receiver

This will come as no surprise to fans, but the biggest question mark for the Cleveland Browns in the 2021 offseason will be at wide receiver. While it is highly unlikely that they address the roster in free agency, I wouldn’t be shocked if they took a wide receiver at No. 26, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t draft a receiver at all.

The big question mark continues to be Odell Beckham. Is he healthy? And can he stay healthy for a full season? You can bet that Berry is monitoring his rehabilitation, and that will be a crucial factor in his decision moving forward.

Look at the roster now; Beckham, Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, and Donovan Peoples-Jones.  That’s not a bad roster at all, but production has not been where it should be with over $30 million spent on the position. People-Jones could continue to develop, but the Browns desperately need a deep threat who can thrive in man-to-man coverage.

My gut says the Browns draft a wide receiver, and I think it will be in the later rounds. The Browns have too many gaps on defense and have too much invested already in the position to draft a guy in the first round or two.

Look for Berry to try and find a deep threat specialist just to help stretch the field in 2021.  Don’t expect a long-term solution at the position this year, but more of a band-aid.

You think the drama is bad now? Just wait until next offseason with multiple players to resign and Beckham and Landry both making over $15 million per year.
