3 Players Cleveland Browns could trade during the 2021 NFL Draft

1. David Njoku, Tight End
Last year, David Njoku felt as though he was no longer needed in Cleveland. This was due to the fact that they gave Austin Hooper a monster contract in the offseason and also drafted Harrison Bryant in the fourth round.
Njoku subsequently requested a trade but was then talked out of that demand by head coach Kevin Stefanski. Njoku was assured he would have a role in 2020 and the fourth-year pro was willing to see how things played out.
Unfortunately, they didn’t play out in his favor. Despite Njoku improving vastly as a blocker, he wasn’t the starter for most of the season, even when the team went with two tight ends. He would end up playing in 13 games with five starts and saw just 29 targets all season — despite showing time and again that he was the best tight end on the roster last season.
He finished with 19 receptions for 213 yards and two touchdowns while making several impressive contested catches along the way.
Now in 2021, he’s still on the roster — playing on the fifth and final year of his rookie deal. It’s not a stretch to think this will be his final season in Cleveland and that could lead to the front office seeing what they could get in a trade during the draft.
In the end, that could be good for Njoku who deserves more time than what he’s getting. But that doesn’t mean it’s the right move for the team. Just one they could end up making.
