4. Alim McNeill, North Carolina State

While Barmore is billed as a pass-rushing three-tech, Alim McNeill is an uber-talented one-tech with the potential to be one of the most disruptive tackles in the league. He’s a stout 6-foot-2, 317 pounds with quick feet and powerful hands.

There are examples on his tape of flat-out dominance, although they didn’t come against SEC competition. His production is not elite, but it’s acceptable for a one-tech. Much like Jadeveon Clowney, McNeill’s impact can’t be accurately judged by looking at basic stats.

The issue with McNeill is that he doesn’t really know what he’s doing at the moment. He is incredibly raw from a technical perspective, and that leads to some maddening inconsistencies with his play. However, his ability to flat-out control the line of scrimmage is something that can be molded with time and coaching. He also won’t turn 21 until May, so he still has plenty of time to get bigger and stronger.

McNeill seems like he’ll be a mi-Day 2 pick, but the Browns might have to spend their second-rounder on him, if he were even to last that long. Whether they’d be willing to do that for a backup this season is a fair question.
