2. Spencer Brown, Tackle, University of Northern Iowa

Spencer Brown is an anchor of an offensive lineman and a quarterback’s best friend. Brown decided to sit out the 2020 season, but in 2019 he was a force to be reckoned with, starting every game. The former zero-star tight end out of high school could turn into the biggest lineman steal in the draft.

Standing at 6-foot-9 and 311-pounds, Brown is an absolute unit of a man. He uses his sheer size to aggressively fire at defenders. His play style comes with a bite and has a little bit of anger to it.

His inhuman strength is a tool he uses and uses well when steering pass rushers away from the quarterback. He’s also a smart player, consistently picking up the right assignment and looking for ways to constantly make an impact. Brown has all of the raw talent you need at an NFL-level tackle.

There are a few concerns with Brown though. With his massive frame, he is often out leveraged. Trying to play lower and getting that center of gravity lower, may really benefit Brown. He also lacks lateral quickness due to his size. During the senior bowl, he also struggled in practice, mostly with the one-on-one drills. If Brown can make the transition from zero-star tight end to a dominant tackle, he should be able to fix these problems.

Brown is a perfect fit for Cleveland and could provide some serious depth. Last season Nick Harris was able to fill in and play an important role when tackle Jedrick Wills went out, and we were able to see how important depth is at the offensive line.

Harris and Brown could turn into some of the best backup linemen in the NFL. Cleveland loves the athletic lineman that know how to work in a wide zone-blocking scheme. With Brown’s serious size, strength, and athleticism, he is a perfect fit.
