The 2021 NFL Draft is nearly here, and the Cleveland Browns need to add some speed to their roster.

This class has plenty of that to supply, especially at the positions that Cleveland will likely be targeting.

The team may have to do some maneuvering in order to secure their targets, which is exactly what happens in this Browns mock draft.

Round 1, Pick 26: Greg Newsome, II, CB, Northwestern

The biggest immediate need on the Browns roster is another outside cornerback opposite Denzel Ward. That spot could be filled by Greedy Williams, but he is still recovering from the serious nerve injury he suffered that cost him 7-8 months of activity.

Williams is still not yet at full strength (he will never be), and it will take a while to get him back in football shape. He cannot be seriously counted on, and that means the team needs to find another starter. If Williams can contribute, that’s an excellent problem to have.

Greg Newsome is considered by many to be the best cornerback in this class. He possesses all the physical tools needed to be an elite player, including 4.39 speed. Newsome hasn’t played a ton of football in college due to some injuries, but his tape is excellent. He’s extremely fluid in man coverage and explosive out of his breaks. He’s pair with Ward to give Cleveland a pair of extremely athletic corners who can run with anyone.

Newsome’s injury history is the biggest concern with him, but as long as his medical checks are positive, he’d be an excellent value at this point in the first round. Newsome will be 20 years old on Draft day, so his young age is a huge selling point for him.
