Daily Dawg Tags: Myles Garrett speaks on Jadeveon Clowney addition
By Randy Gurzi
The Daily Dawg Tags bring you all the Cleveland Browns news you need to know, including Myles Garrett speaking out on the addition of Jadeveon Clowney
Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was in the news Thursday as he was out doing some good work in the community.
Garrett helped unveil a new mural which was done by a local artist and while he was available, he spoke on the coming season. And the biggest question was how he felt about having a new teammate across from him in Jadeveon Clowney.
As expected, Garrett said he’s thrilled to have Clowney join the team. He also said that having the No. 1 pick in 2014 playing defensive end on one side and himself (the No. 1 pick from 2017) on the other would be “scary” for opponents.
That story and more can be found in today’s Daily Dawg Tags.
Cleveland Browns News
"“I know the guy is aggressive, really gets after it and he has a motor: keeps attacking, plays the run well and a good pass-rusher,” he said. “He’s an athletic specimen like someone I know on the Browns, so it will be fun.”"
After calling the addition “scary” Garrett went a little more in-depth on what Clowney brings to the table. Everything he said about the former No. 1 pick is spot-on — and he’s right that it will be a bit intimidating for opposing offensive lines.
"“The new multi-paned work, by local artist Glen Infante whose #VoicesofCLE pieces are found throughout the city center, was unveiled at the Cleveland Visitors Center on Euclid Avenue.Garrett personally selected Infante to create the “Cleveland is the Reason” mural, inspired by Cleveland icons of sports, culture, and rock ‘n’ roll, according to #VoicesofCLE.”"
In addition to being a phenomenal athlete, Myles Garrett is a man who is passionate about art. He’s known to write poetry and has a very deep mind. He also loves giving back to the city where he plays pro ball. With all that being said, it’s not surprising at all to see him helping a local artist get more attention for his impressive work.
Jadeveon Clowney changing numbers with Cleveland Browns — Brad Crawford
"“Cleveland Browns free agent signee Jadeveon Clowney is changing numbers this season according to a leaked photo on social media through the franchise’s official account. The former No. 1 overall pick wore No. 99 last season with the Tennessee Titans, but is reverted back to No. 90 in Cleveland, a numeral donned during his days in Seattle and Houston.”"
If we’re being honest, No. 90 just looks better on the edge. Clowney only wore No. 99 last season and that didn’t look as sharp on him. Then again, whatever number he wears isn’t the important thing. What is important is the fact that Cleveland has two No. 1 overall picks on the same line.
