Sheldrick Redwine is getting in on the NFT trend and has become the first Cleveland Brown player to offer something up for fans with this cryptocurrency

In recent weeks, there has been a new craze in cryptocurrency which has gotten some people excited while confusing others. That craze is known as an NFT — or non-fungible token.

Several NFL players (including retired stars Peyton and Eli Manning) have begun offering NFTs for their fans and now, the Cleveland Browns have a player getting in on the fun. Sheldrick Redwine recently announced he would be offering an animated digital trading card.

However, his NFT comes with a twist as he is offering some real-world bonuses for whoever wins the bid for his NFT according to Ian Cross of News 5 Cleveland.

Cross spoke with Grant Laschowski and broke down exactly what an NFT is. According to Laschowski, it’s really just a wat for artists, and now athletes, to sell unique pieces online. However, he dove into what Redwine is offering in addition to the card for whoever wins the bif

"“So if the buyer is in the city of Cleveland, a local, and the fans are allowed into the games, he’s going to give them two tickets and also an on-field meet-and-greet,” Laschowski said. “Now, if for some reason, fans are not allowed or they’re not in the local area, the winner of this will get a signed jersey shipped to them and a virtual meet-and-greet with Sheldrick on Zoom.”"

This is a nice touch as Redwine is not only offering the digital NFT that is already becoming a huge thing, but the fact that fans can actually attend the game and meet the third-year safety is arguably even more desirable.

Having said all that, I would have to admit I am still beyond confused about what exactly the NFT offers — and why it has become so popular. The good news is, Cross gets down to the facts in his piece and it’s well worth the read if you want to learn a little more about the new fad.
