Top 4 targets for the Cleveland Browns on Day 2 of the Draft
By Greg Newland
1. Milton Williams – Defensive Tackle, Louisiana Tech
Why do I have two defensive tackles on this list, surely the Cleveland Browns don’t need two? You would be correct but knowing that Barmore is a bit of a stretch to fall to the Browns and the need for a wide receiver may be greater, I wanted to add one more realistic option for pick No. 91.
Milton Williams could be another strong fit for the interior defensive line to replace Richardson. Williams is a fierce competitor and has a never-ending motor which is such a great trait in the NFL. He will need to continue to get stronger and add a few pounds to hold up in the middle of the line, but he has the frame to do exactly that.
Williams has proven to be an above-average run defender, but at least in the beginning he wouldn’t be a huge help rushing the passer. With the help of Jadeveon Clowney and a 4-2-5 scheme, the importance of pass rush from the defensive tackle position is less and less.
The Browns need a guy with good gap discipline that can be a run plugger, which Williams can be at the next level.
I like Williams because of his experience on the field and his work ethic, but other names to watch could be Bobby Browns from Texas A&M, as well as Tyler Shelvin from LSU.
The position is too big of a need to wait until day three for a guy.
