No prospect fits Cleveland Browns defense as perfectly as Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah

The Cleveland Browns moved up from No. 59 to No. 52 to secure Notre Dame linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who is a perfect fit for their defense
For two seasons in a row, Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry has shown that he not only belongs in the role he was hired for in 2020 — but he was actually born for it. The second-year GM has now orchestrated two beautiful offseasons where he filled every hole he could in free agency and then capped things off with great picks in the draft.
Last season, he ended up with Jedrick Wills in Round 1 (filling their biggest need at left tackle) before stealing Grant Delpit in the second after moving up a few picks. Now, he had similar success as he took Greg Newsome II to fill their biggest need at cornerback but then stole Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah at No. 59 after jumping up seven picks.
Berry surrendered the No. 89 pick to move from 59 to 52 and added No. 113 overall. Not only was the trade well-worth the move, but Berry landed the one prospect who fits this defense better than any other.
Defensive coordinator Joe Woods — who is clearly the biggest winner in the entire NFL this offseason — runs a 4-2-5 scheme and he has found success during his days with Carolina with players such as Shaq Thompson who can play a hybrid linebacker/safety role — which is what JOK offers.
And if we’re being honest, Owusu-Koramoah is an even better hybrid player than Thompson ever was. The Notre Dame product has lined up all over the field for the Irish and will continue to do so in Cleveland.
He’s stout in pass coverage — much better than any linebacker currently on the roster — and offers up more as a run defender than any of the other safeties on the roster.
JOK is going to be an instant starter and had no business being around for the 52nd pick. In the end, however, that ended up being the best thing for him and the team since they fit one another like a glove.
