The Cleveland Browns used their final scheduled pick on UCLA wide receiver/running back Demetric Felton. Where does he fit with this offense?

Barring a trade, the Cleveland Browns are done in the 2021 NFL Draft.

With the 211th pick in the sixth round, the Browns took UCLA wide receiver/running back Demetric Felton. It’s an interesting pick but one that might not ever turn into anything for them in the future.

Felton is a player who doesn’t really have a true position. He had 233 carries for 1,101 yards and seven touchdowns as a runner and 99 receptions for 958 yards and eight touchdowns. He also has some return skills, gaining 611 yards and a touchdown as a kick returner.

As for his pro prospects, he’s being called a slot receiver who is capable of breaking some tackles after turning into a running back once the ball is in his hands — even though he doesn’t really have elite speed. And at 5-foot-9 and 189-pounds, he likely will be restricted to the slot.

On Cleveland, that’s not exactly a role that’s up for grabs with Jarvis Landry on the roster. He also doesn’t really offer anything more as a returner than Donovan Peoples-Jones or D’Ernest Johnson do.

Perhaps Felton can become a better player in the pros if he’s able to focus on one job and become an expert there. At UCLA, his ability to do several things might have played against him as he never seemed to find his home.

He did perform well in the Senior Bowl, which might have helped the Browns decide to give him a chance to catch on with them.

Now, we just have to sit back and see if Andrew Berry decides he’s done for the weekend, or if he wants to give up future capital to grab a player still on the board. My money is on them wrapping things up and working the phones for some undrafted free agents.
