Cleveland Browns: DT Tommy Togiai is another home run pick
By Randy Gurzi
The Cleveland Browns took Tommy Togiai at No. 132 and the Ohio State star gives them another talented player at a high value
For some reason, the Cleveland Browns don’t seem to draft very many prospects out of Ohio State. But when they do, fans in the Dawg Pound get pretty excited, and at pick No. 132 in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Browns gave their fans something to cheer for.
Andrew Berry was on NFL Network to announce the pick and got fans in Cleveland on their feet when he announced defensive tackle Tommy Togiai from The Ohio State University as the pick.
Togiai not only gets to stay in Ohio to start his NFL career but he’s also a very high value for where Cleveland picked him. A true three-technique, Togiai is able to hold his own against the run and also added three sacks in seven games this past season for the Buckeyes.
He fills a major need for Cleveland as well since they recently let go of Sheldon Richardson in a salary-cap move. Richardson, who was entering the final year of his three-year contract, was set to make $13 million this season.
There were some whispers that Cleveland could try and convince Richardson to return in 2021 but this selection could mean the end of that hope.
Togiai will surely be a reserve this coming season behind Malik Jackson but with him, Jackson, Andrew Billings, and Jordan Elliott on the same roster, they do look much more competent along withinterior of their defenisve line.
Cleveland’s next pick will be at 153 in the fifth round.
