Cleveland Browns: 5 most important additions this offseason
By Greg Newland
1. Anthony Walker – Linebacker
While guys like John Johnson, Troy Hill, and Jadeveon Clowney may be more talented at their position, the biggest impact signing of 2021 for Berry will be a linebacker, Anthony Walker.
Not only does Walker fill a huge hole in the defense, but he will also be the leader of this group and brings a great presence to the locker room.
After being in the shadows of Darius Leonard with the Indianapolis Colts, Walker is set to have a breakout season with the Cleveland Browns. In a four-year NFL career, Walker has 242 tackles, 11 pass deflections, 3.5 sacks, 3 interceptions, and 2 fumble recoveries.
A vast majority of these stats have come in just three seasons, as the former fifth-round pick from Northwestern saw limited action as a rookie.
Look for Walker to be a great mentor for all the young talent in the Browns linebacker room. Rookies like JOK and Tony Fields will learn so much faster, and second-year players like Jacob Phillips will also benefit tremendously from his skills and leadership.
I expect the Browns defense to be top-10 in the league this year, and Walker to be a pro-bowler, with all-pro consideration.
With a great work ethic and solid defensive line in front of him, he has the potential for a tremendous year.
